Video, repurposed footage, archival sound
Red Rose Pink (trans.), explores the rupture of cultural censorship towards feminine sexuality in Latin America by using video art and documentary making techniques. It reacts and joins contemporary tensions questioning not only the historic cultural, social, religious, political and familial colonization but the colonization of the female body. The first half of the video comprehends a collage of images interleaving sound, movement and color. This is followed by the voices of tenths of women who use the live broadcast of a beauty pageant event as a platform to denounce the femicides in their cities and provinces in lieu of announcing the expected body measurements.
